FAQ’s
How does private lesson scheduling work at Creative Roots?
Private lessons follow a school-year schedule (September through May) as part of our Weekly Lesson Membership. Students meet with their instructor once a week on a consistent day and time, with breaks during:
- Thanksgiving Week
- Christmas Week
- New Year’s Week
- Your individual Spring Break (please coordinate your break dates with your instructor)
Summer lessons (June–August) are offered separately as a flexible lesson package. You’ll work directly with your instructor to choose dates that fit your summer schedule — perfect for families traveling or looking for more flexibility.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
- Your lesson time is reserved just for you.
- You may switch to online format with at least 2 hours’ notice if your child is mildly ill.
- Ask for an Asynchronous Lesson. Video record playing your assignments and send them to your instructor prior to your regular lesson time. Your instructor will respond with feedback, assignments, and/or exercises for the week.
- Ask for a Travel Packet if you know you will be away in advance (minimum 48 hours needed)
Group classes (Music Together, Choir, Ensembles, etc.) do not offer make-ups.
What if the teacher cancels a lesson?
If your teacher needs to cancel due to illness or emergency, your lesson will be rescheduled or credited.
Can we pause or withdraw from lessons mid-year?
We encourage families to commit for the school year, but we understand that plans can change.
To discontinue:
- Provide 30 days’ written notice on or before the 1st of the month prior to your last month.
- Example: To stop lessons in May, give notice by April 1.
- Tuition will not be refunded for missed lessons if no notice is given.
What are your illness guidelines?
Please keep your child home if they:
- Have a fever
- Stayed home from school that day
- Have significant symptoms like coughing or fatigue
If mildly ill but focused, request an online lesson with 2+ hours’ notice.
Do you offer recitals or performance opportunities?
Yes! Recitals and special events are included in tuition and provide enriching musical experiences.
What supplies or materials are needed?
Students will need:
- Own or rent an instrument for lessons and practice at home
- Any required books or materials (instructors will guide you)
What if a month has 3 or 5 weeks?
Your Weekly Private Lesson Member tuition and Group Class tuition stays the same each month, September–May. This helps reserve your teacher’s time and keep planning consistent throughout the year.
