The Arts of Healing

Ages 8-12

Creative Roots is partnering with The Arts of Healing to guide students through a creative art curriculum that helps kids learn how drawing and painting can be both a stress-reliever and self-evaluator. With fun textural and doodling exercises in our 6 classes, our teen facilitators deliver a message of positive mental health through the medium of visual arts, and ensure students that art is a tool accessible when stressed or anxious. All sessions have adult art instructor supervision.

Come explore your creativity, embrace an intuitive approach to art-making, and express your unique creative voice. We will experiment with new ideas and artistic techniques, play with paint, and have fun enjoying the process of creating. Learn how to express emotions and experiences in your own unique style, as you engage with others in a supportive and encouraging environment. For beginners and anyone creatively curious.

Over our three-week series we will explore color theory, composition, and a variety of techniques. Using art journals and canvas we will experiment with painting, stenciling, and collage, as well as a variety of methods for mark-making, creating texture, and layering to create unique and expressive works of art.
