Writing That Story: Creative Nonfiction Workshops

Age 18+

Do you have a book burning within you? Want to workshop a memoir you've started but can't finish? Are you interested in writing but aren't sure where to start?

Join Courtney Ellis, author of five books, including Looking Up: A Birder’s Guide to Hope Through Grief. Together you’ll craft fascinating nonfiction or memoir as you learn how to improve your writing through reading the work of others, workshopping your own, and offering and receiving critique.

Writers will be asked to bring in short excerpts of their work for in-class exercises.

4-week session
Wednesdays: Sept 11, Sept 18, Sept 25, and Oct 2
6:30-8pm (1.5 hrs)

Cost: $100 per person, includes a copy of Andrew LePeau's book, Write Better.

Are you interested in writing? Have you ever wanted to publish your work? It's a competitive field but knowing a bit about the industry can help get you started on the right track. Come learn the ins and outs of navigating the publishing industry from Courtney Ellis, author of five books. In this two-hour class she'll tackle concepts like:

Essays, articles, and journals
Traditional vs. self-publishing
Do I need an agent?
What does a query look like for fiction or nonfiction?
How can I improve my writing?
Pitfalls of publishing
